This rare large plaque of guava in red santal with bat, flowers and butterflies has been made in Vietnam around 1900. You can see the great delicacy of the wood hand carving in the pictures below. Good condition only wings of 1 butterfly are missing and small chips on the bottom edge of leaf. The pictures do not justice to this outstanding work. 44" tall, 11"1/2 width.

For our French-speaking friends: Exceptionnel travail du Vietnam vers 1900. Entièrement sculpté à la main dans un bois massif de santal rouge dit "d'Amboine", une feuille de palmier est garnie d'une branche de goyavier, avec fleurs et fruit, que viennent dévorer papillons et chauve-souris. En bon état malgré quelques accidents sur le bas de la feuille et sur un côté il manque deux ailes a un papillon quasiment invisible. Elle a sur son fond une encoche pour être fixé au mur. Hauteur 112cm, largeur 29cm.
