    decorative plate made by the famous Jean Cocteau for the Singers of Wooden Cross made in the Georges Boyer factory in Limoges during the 1940's. The plate is signed for the Littles Singers of St Laurent church whose Jean Cocteau is friend and sponsor, in the repertory of the singers we can find Oedipus Rex writen by J Cocteau. Perfect condition, the is signed in front and on the back hand painting and the stamp of the Limoges factory. 9"7/8 diameter. In 1934 Georges Boyer succeeded his father Jean. Georges also took over direction of the factory and studio of de Madesclaire on Rue Cruveilher and Rue Lafontaine, apparently closing the studio on Rue Encombe-Vineuse.

Elle est en l'honneur des Petits Chanteurs de Saint-Laurent de Paris dont il est l'ami et le mécène, dans leur répertoire on trouve entre autres Oedipus Rex un texte de Jean Cocteau. Au dos de l'assiette, mention peinte à la main France n°11 et tampon vert de l'atelier de décor de la manufacture. Diamètre 24.8 cm. Georges Boyer, fils de Jean, prend la direction en 1934 des ateliers de décor et de fabrication de porcelaine de Madesclaire rue Jean-de-La-Fontaine n° 49 à 61, et quitte sans doute à cette occasion les ateliers de la rue Encombe-Vineuse.
